Somehow, that is a complete sentence. Because of one thing or another, this was the year that changed it all. It started off great. I had just opened my brick-and-mortar wellness center, I had just returned from a free vacation in Hawaii, life seemed so full of potential… and then came the shutdown. The overwhelming thoughts of “what now??” The fear of losing control. The forced change. I was lucky enough to have a residual income from one of my businesses to get through the shutdown, to help us survive. But it wasn’t enough to sustain the brand-new business I had just opened. Sadly, as folks were returning to work, I was closing my doors. In that same week, my sweet grandmother Laura passed away. A woman of incredible virtue and strength, Grandma Laura had always been a rock for me. My angel- the one person in this world that could somehow make me smile through any tears. And in that exact same week, I lost my baby… a missed miscarriage, a term I had never heard before. It seemed surreal- to experience so much loss in just seven days. Now, I know that there are many, many terrible things that happen in this world and I know there are people who have suffered greatly. Loss is loss. It was a few months before I realized that I wasn’t handling it so well.
